As we close out April, there’s a lot on our minds at VOQIN’. We feel a renewed energy to revitalize this VOQIN’ blog, bringing back reflections into topics close to our heart. For instance, Happiness and Sustainable Development. While these might appear as distinct discussions, they are fundamentally intertwined and resonate deeply with everything we do in the corporate events world.

The term ‘Sustainability’ with a capital “S” was first defined in 1987 by the United Nations Brundtland Commission as the ability to “meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Since its inception, this concept has demanded an integrated approach, balancing environmental, social, and economic concerns. In this era, the interconnectedness of our global issues is undeniable. We’re recognizing that the environment doesn’t just affect our physical health but also our emotional and psychological states and vice-versa. Consider the burgeoning interest in holistic medicine, the insights into how “we are what we eat”, or the research on “Blue Zones”—regions where people live longer, happier lives.

Happiness, as described by Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar, is a profound state of ‘whole being,’ which encompasses spiritual, physical, intellectual, relational, and emotional well-being. When we are truly happy, we exist in a state of abundance, eager to extend our positive impact outward, reaching others and the planet.

At VOQIN’, transitioning from this holistic concept of happiness and interconnectedness to our daily work in events is seamless.

We are Emotions Creators. This isn’t just a tagline; it’s at the core of our mission. By understanding and leveraging the power of emotions, we aim to foster sustainable development, not only through our corporate events or incentive travel but also within our workplace culture.

There’s another crucial element in our work: Creativity.

Creativity permeates everything we do at VOQIN’. We constantly strive to think outside the box and innovate, but our favorite aspect of creativity is its capacity to foster a future-ready mindset. Creative thinking powers unforgettable corporate events that leave a lasting impact not only for brands or on those who attend but also on our team. It drives our ideas and emotions and sharpens our ability to connect, question, and for understanding. Most of all it allows for a problem-solving attitude which is key in the long run.

Recent findings from the APA show that about half of Americans use creative activities to manage stress or anxiety. Those with excellent mental health engage in these activities more often than those with poorer health ratings. But creativity isn’t just an outlet; it’s essential for solving problems in economic, social, and sustainable contexts. That’s why the United Nations celebrates April 21 as World Creativity and Innovation Day, to highlight its role in all aspects of human development.

As we prepare for IMEX, the biggest trade show in the business events community, we’re excited to advance these conversations about the importance of emotions and creativity in mental health making our contribution to making the world a little bit better.

Will we see you there?
