THE CHALLENGE

The "F1 of the seas"

Considered the most human edition of the Volvo Ocean Race at the time, the 2014-15 hosted, for the first time, 7 strictly equal ships. The race passed 10 cities over a period of 9 months and at the Itajaí Stopover received 352 thousand people.

The event has worldwide relevance, being positioned by the organization as the “F1 of the seas”. The second largest sporting event in the world received globally 2,399,865 visitors in 2014-15 and put the city on the map of international nautical events.

THE RESULT

The hallmark event brought awareness and profitability to the touristic destination of Itajaí and Santa Catarina state.

Helping to develop the city and create infrastructures, the event also granted recognition of the municipality for the  sustainability projects developed.
